Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of Scam Teller’s website, free online checker, subscription, voice calling, SMS and MMS program, automated analysis, and related services. Before checkout, the purchaser must affirmatively accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. By submitting content to the free checker, purchasing, activating, calling, or using Scam Teller, you agree to them.
You may purchase Scam Teller for yourself or for one or two people you care about. The purchaser must be authorized to make the purchase and provide accurate enrollment information. Each enrolled user independently chooses whether to activate the SMS service by texting START from their own enrolled number. Scam Teller is designed to help adults and is not designed or marketed for children.
What Scam Teller provides
Scam Teller is an automated educational service. A website visitor or enrolled user can submit a suspicious text, screenshot, photo, link, or description of a call, email, letter, or situation. An enrolled user may also call from their enrolled number and read or describe something suspicious to the automated voice service. The service analyzes the submitted content, identifies possible warning signs, and suggests a practical next step.
By submitting content, you grant Scam Teller the limited rights needed to process, store, display back to you, secure, and analyze that content to provide the service. If you allow improvement use in the free online checker, you also allow Scam Teller to retain and use a redacted version, the assessment, and your feedback to evaluate and improve the service.
Voice calls are transcribed live to provide the requested check, but Scam Teller does not record or store call audio. Callers must not say passwords, verification codes, Social Security numbers, or complete card or account numbers. Scam Teller may use recent messages or call transcripts to understand follow-up questions. Users can text NEW or RESET to begin a fresh text conversation.
The website may provide a short live voice demonstration. The demo is subject to time and usage limits, cannot receive screenshots or send text messages, and is not a substitute for an enrolled call or text check.
Subscription, free trial, billing, and cancellation
Standard new subscriptions include a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required at signup, but no subscription charge is collected when the trial begins. When the trial ends, the selected one-person plan begins at $14 per month or $119 per year, or the selected two-person plan begins at $23 per month or $199 per year. A new customer using a valid referral link does not receive a free trial. Instead, the customer is charged immediately for a monthly subscription at 50% of the first month’s regular price. The subscription renews at the regular monthly price one month later.
Each enrolled person receives unlimited Scam Teller calls and text messages for ordinary personal use. We may apply reasonable technical controls to prevent fraud, automated use, resale, or abuse that materially interferes with the service for other customers.
The site and Stripe checkout display the recurring price and billing interval before the purchaser confirms the subscription. Plans renew automatically at the selected interval until cancelled. The checkout page and confirmation email disclose the first billing date. We send annual-plan renewal reminders and other notices when required by applicable law. Applicable taxes, carrier charges, or message and data rates may be separate. Payment processing is provided by Stripe and is subject to Stripe’s applicable terms.
You may cancel at any time through the secure subscription portal or by emailing support@scamteller.com. Cancellation during a standard trial prevents the first subscription charge. Cancellation after billing begins stops future renewals but does not ordinarily provide a refund for a billing period already started, except where required by law.
Texting STOP ends SMS messages to that phone number but does not, by itself, cancel the paid subscription.
Refer-a-friend program
An active Scam Teller customer may share a personal referral link. A new customer who uses a valid link receives 50% off the first payment for a monthly one-person or two-person subscription and begins paid service immediately without a free trial. The subscription renews at the regular monthly price unless canceled.
The referrer earns one $20 Amazon Gift Card after the referred customer completes a second successful monthly payment. The reward is delivered to the email associated with the referrer’s Scam Teller subscription. Self-referrals, duplicate accounts, misleading promotion, spam, refunded or disputed payments, and other abuse do not qualify. There is one reward per new customer. We may delay, deny, or reverse a reward when necessary to investigate fraud, payment disputes, or violation of these Terms.
Referral offers may be changed or ended prospectively. Amazon does not sponsor or administer this program and is not affiliated with Scam Teller.
SMS and MMS program terms
Each enrolled user independently opts in by texting START from their enrolled mobile number. The purchaser and an enrolled user may be the same person. After activation, messages include requested scam-check responses and service notices. Message frequency varies according to use. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to stop messages or HELP for assistance. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Scam Teller does not use this SMS program to send promotional marketing messages.
Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate enrollment information, keep payment information current, and use Scam Teller only for lawful personal safety purposes. You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, submit illegal or abusive material, impersonate another person, or use the service to make automated decisions about another person.
Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical records, intimate images, or unrelated sensitive information. Purchasers are responsible for entering the correct enrolled phone numbers.
Important safety limitations
Scam Teller uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence and speech recognition. Responses or transcriptions may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong. A “likely safe” response is not a guarantee that a person, message, website, payment request, or transaction is legitimate.
Scam Teller is not a bank, law firm, investment adviser, healthcare provider, law-enforcement agency, emergency service, or substitute for professional advice. It cannot recover money, freeze accounts, investigate crimes, place calls to third parties, or contact emergency services for you.
Availability, suspension, and changes
We work to keep Scam Teller available, but uninterrupted or error-free service is not guaranteed. Delivery may depend on carriers and third-party providers. We may limit or suspend access to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, address nonpayment, or maintain the service.
We may update the service or these Terms. Updated Terms will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
Disclaimers and responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scam Teller is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, or uninterrupted availability. You remain responsible for deciding whether to act, send money or information, contact another person, or rely on a response.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scam Teller and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses resulting from reliance on an automated response, a missed or incorrectly identified scam, a scammer’s conduct, carrier failure, or unauthorized access. Scam Teller is an added layer of guidance, not insurance or a transfer of responsibility for scam-related losses. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be limited.
General terms and contact
If one part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue in effect. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement concerning the service unless additional written terms apply.
